HISTORY OF THE MUNTHAM HOLIDAY APARTMENTS

Muntham was originally built for a Victorian Member of Parliament for Torquay (although it was given a different name at the time) and was a private residence when its name was changed  to "Muntham" by the then owner Sir Charles Chitty who had been a Lord Chief Justice of Calcutta. Muntham was supposed to mean "gentle breeze" in Hindi.
