St Anne's Manor is a very discreet lady. Sitting behind high walls and an electric gate you could pass her by thousands of times and never know she was there BUT as the electric gates sweep open and you make your way up immaculate driveway, she reveals herself in all her glory as you find yourself and the magnificent porticoed entrance. She is your bit of the Downton Abbey dream.
When you pass through the proticoed entrance into the hallway, you enter a World of calmness and tranquility away from all the turmoil and stresses beyond the walls. St Anne's is dressed for the 21st century but has a timelessness that relaxes you. To the left of the hallway are the two main reception rooms that overlook the gardens. The largest is the drawing room which is a smart place to gather and socialise. The smaller of the two rooms has a pool table for those with a competitive streak.
Turning right from the hallway takes you down a passage to the kitchen. The word kitchen doesn't really do this room justice. It is an enormous space with bespoke hand painted units, a fantastic array of appliances and a dining table where all guests can gather to enjoy a meal. Beyond the kitchen is a further anciliary kitchen. There is also a TV room for flopping out in front of the television in large comfy chairs and sofas. And beyond that is the property's gym.
As befits this incredible property, the kitchen is packed with the very best appliances to make cooking a joy rather than a chore. There is a Miele Coffee espresso maker, Miele microwave, two Miele dishwashers, and a Gaggenu electric oven plus two fridges and freezers. There is acres of work space plus a magnificent dining table where all the guests can gather to celebrate special occasions. And of course there is the second kitchen, The Butler's Kitchen. Here there is another electric oven, another fridge and another dishwasher. Here too is the washing machine and tumble dryer. But there is one more surprise -yet another kitchen but you'll need to read on to find out more.
As you climb the sweeping staircase to bed, you rise up to the upper hallway with its magnificent glass domed ceiling. Pausing a while you may well be struck by the complete tranquility of St Anne's given its wonderfully central location on The English Riviera. From this hallway you'll find the luxury bedrooms. The master bedroom overlooks the gardens and has a sumptuous superking bed as well as an ensuite with bath and shower and twin basins.
Bedroom number two is another superking with ensuite containing WC, shower and basin. Bedroom three is a king - its bathroom is adjacent to the room and has a shower, WC and basin. Bedroom 4 is a superking and has an ensuite shower room with shower, WC and basin. Bedroom five is a further superking or a twin with ensuite bathroom featuring a shower, WC and wash basin.
The unique thing about St Anne's is the wonderful size of its garden - more than 3 acres. Few of the original villas in Torquay retain their original gardens as many have long since been built on. This makes St Anne's very special and helps explain its feeling of peace and tranquility. The walled garden and electric gate also means that children can run free and explore all the corners of the garden safely.
Perhaps the most incredible aspect of the gardens is the outside kitchen which sits atop a platform on the front lawn. This magnificent facility comes with furniture, cooking appliances and sails to shade guests from the south Devon sun. This facility is seasonal and subject to periods of settled dry weather during the duration of a guest's stay.
The property has its very own gym - this features a treadmill, cross trainer as well as a selection of free weights and a work out bench. It is a facility of the over 18's only.
Well behaved adult dogs are welcome at St Anne's and they have a glorious garden to play in and explore. We do limit dogs to one per visit and dogs must never be left unattended in the property.
St Anne's Manor lies within the Meadfoot area of Torquay. This wonderful leafy district of the town is a prime residential location and is peaceful yet gives very easy access to the town centre and harbour. Other advanatges of the location include:
