All of our self catering holiday apartments in Torquay have their own off street parking and so can provide peace of mind for guests wanting to travel to the area and travel within the area by car. However, it is remarkably easy to come to The English Riviera using other forms of transport and the location of the apartments in the centre of town means that it is entirely possible to access Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and surrounding areas without a car altogether.

Our holiday travel guide is here to help you plan your journey to our part of South Devon and to plan your break once you are here.

We can send full directions when guests book.

It is possible to travel to Torquay using the train train from most parts of the United Kingdom. There are some direct services each day although most trips will involve a change at either Exeter or Newton Abbot. Train services from London depart from London Paddington and are operated by Great Western Railways. The West Midlands, East Midlands, and cities of the north such as Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield as well as Scottish cities such as Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all served by Cross Country Trains.

Torquay station is not located in the town centre but along the sea front. There is a taxi rank outside the front of the station. Our apartments are usually all within a 10 minute drive of the station - traffic conditions permitting.

The nearest airport is Exeter. There are connections to UK cities such as Manchester and London ( London City Airport) as well as Northern Ireland (Belfast) and The Republic of Ireland. There are also numerous connections to European cities.

Taxis to Torquay are likely to cost between £35 and £45. Bus shuttles operate to and from  Exeter St Davids Railway Station but these can be quite slow.

Car rental is available at Exeter airport.

There are direct coach services from lots of UK cities as well as from UK airports . Coaches from London operate from Victoria Coach Station which is close to London Victoria railway Station. Torquay coach station is fairly close to Torquay town centre. There is a taxi rank there and the journey to all of our  holiday apartments is about ten minutes traffic permitting. The largest coach operator is National Express.

Car rental is relatively inexpensive and one of the most conveniently located and cheapest of the Car Hire companies is Thrifty which can be found at Torquay Station.

Travelling within the English Riviera.

We are fortunate enough to have a high frequency bus network within the Bay area serving the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Most journeys will not require a change but for those that do it is normally at Torquay harbour. Weekly and monthly tickets are available for large savings on fairs.

From 1st April to 31st October, the bulk of the  foot passenger ferries operate an extensive service between Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. They also have excursions of different kinds. The main boat operator is Western lady Ferry Services.

At Paignton mainline station is also the station for the Steam Railway. The routes takes passengers through some beautiful scenery and stops at Churston Station (which features in Agatha Christie's ABC Murders) , Greenway Halt (from where passengers can walk down to Greenway House) and  Kingswear (from where passengers can cross the river and visit the beautiful town of Dartmouth) Steam train services are seasonal but do run most of the year.

Taxis within the Torbay area are comparatively cheap and easy to come by. There are numerous taxi ranks around the towns of Torquay Paignton and Brixham. We recommend Torbay Taxis (01893 211611).
